Reality show takes 7 of top 10 Twitter trending spots
For its Sunday night debut, I’m a Celebrity gained 480,000 tweets in just over an hour.
Kantar Twitter TV Ratings gave it the #1 spot as the most-tweeted programme of the week.
The season premiere inspired 649,700 tweets from 289,900 unique authors, with the tweets creating 92.5m impressions for a Twitter audience of 2.5m individuals. It had 10.3m TV viewers and a 42% audience share.
The 649,700 tweets easily surpassed the #2 show for the week, the BBC’s charity telethon Children in Need, which generated 348,700 tweets on the previous Friday night.
Seven of the Top 10 trending spots on Twitter were taken by the show’s hashtags (#ImACelebrity, #iacgmooh), hosts Ant and Dec, and contestants Jimmy Bullard, Craig Charles, Gemma Collins and Melanie Sykes.
Gemma Collins, from ITV 2 reality show The Only Way Is Essex, took first place with her hysterics on the helicopter ride into the camp. She was still in the Top 10 the following morning.
