Sesame Street Seed Fund Launches With $10m
Beloved children’s TV program “Sesame Street” is getting into venture capital. Sesame Workshop has joined with with Collaborative Fund to launch a $10 million joint investment vehicle to invest in startups focused on education, health and social welfare for children.
Collaborative has contributed $5 million out of its $70 million Fund III for the joint venture, dubbed Collab+Sesame Fund. Sesame Workshop is investing the other $5 million out of its reserves.
Two Collaborative partners–venture partner Lauren Loktev and managing partner Craig Shapiro–will steer the fund’s investment decisions.
